“Are you a f***ing robot? What the f**k, you’re playing Madden out there.” -Jason Kelce to Carson GOAT Wentz
This give me the feels. This gives me alllllllll the feels. I’m so in on everything happening here. I’m guessing you are too. Click the link and let’s talk more about it!
Ok, so here are my quick thoughts on that amazing montage of awesomeness. First and foremost, I love that Carson is wowing even his teammates. Love, love, looooove it. On the flip side, the video reminded me how little we’ve talked about Jordan Hicks. That dude is really, really good at football. He’s always around the ball, and does everything asked of him without pomp or flair; he just does his job at an exceedingly high level, and I think we haven’t done a good job acknowledging that. Jordan, I’m acknowledging you. Moving on; after a combined 17 years of Andy and Chip, not to mention Rhodes and Kotite before them, we’ve gone a long time since we had a head coach who shows emotion. Welp, that has finally come to an end as Dougie P has no problem getting fired up. Guess what? Love that too! I’m loving everything about this team right now. Ok, not everything. “Carson City, Wentzlvania” is not doing it for me, you guys. Not at all. But hey, if that’s all I have to complain about, things are pretty good.
Speaking of which, another national writer I respect has jumped on the “Eagles are a contender” bandwagon, as The Ringer’s Danny Kelly gives the team their due here.
In case you missed it yesterday, fellow Ringerer (?) Robert Mayes did the same, proclaiming the Eagles as the clear favorite in the NFC East. I really like Mays’ work; I’m guessing you will as well. Plus, who doesn’t want to read about the Eagles being better than the three teams we all hate most?
As Mays notes, one of the biggest reasons the Eagles are legit is the defense. I’m not sure how it’s possible, because we loved him the moment we heard he was coming here, but somehow Jim Schwartz’s stock is up.
Personally, as impressed as I’ve been with Schwartzy, Pederson is the guy whose stock has skyrocketed for me. His team has executed at an extremely high level, which is a sign of good coaching, and he seems to be a true leader of men, as it were. But perhaps the most surprising thing has been Pederson’s play calling; he’s proven to be a terrific play caller, and game-planner as well, and has shown creativity and intelligence. This TMac piece helps illustrate this better than I can, as he shows how Pederson schemed Carson Wentz and the Eagles past the Steelers.
Lastly, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention another accolade that has come Wentz’s way. Say hello to your NFC Offensive Player of the Week:
