Last week, one half of ESPN’s mock guru’s, Todd McShay, released his 2.0 mock draft and had the Eagles selecting Florida cornerback Teez Tabor with the 14th pick. Earlier today, the other half of the mock twins, Mel Kiper, released his Mock 2.0 and his selection for the Eagles have me gooey.
With the 14th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Mel Kiper Jr has the Eagles selecting……

Mike Williams – WR – Clemson
Wide receiver has been a position of frustration for the Eagles, and it’s imperative they add at least one more reliable pass-catcher next year, or they risk slowing the development of Carson Wentz. This is a spot where the Eagles could be considering another position (tackle comes to mind), but the value isn’t there in some cases, and with Williams it definitely is. He’s a great, big target for Wentz to work with.
This would be a great scenario for the Eagles. Depending on what happens in free agency, cornerback might be the bigger need, but passing on a player of Williams caliber would be tough, especially with lack of overall talent at the position on the Eagles roster. McShay has Williams and fellow receiver Corey Davis as top 10 picks in his Mock 2.0, so I’m skeptical that either would be available at 14/15. Kiper actually has Davis falling all the way to the Bucs at 19th overall.
Some other notes from Kiper’s 2.0
–Texan A&M defensive end Myles Garrett is the number one overall pick (no surprise) and Mitch Trubisky is the first quarterback off the board, taken by the 49ers at number 2. Deshaun Watson lasts until the Bills select him with the 10th pick, which I don’t see happening. He’ll go before that
— Running backs: Kiper has three going in the first round: Leonard Fournette (Jets 6th pick), Dalvin Cook (Redskins 17), and Christian McCaffery (Packers 31). I see all three backs being difference makers at the next level and would immediately help their teams from jump street. McCaffery could easily slip into the 2nd round. Would the Eagles think about taking a shot? They should
— Temple linebacker Haason Reddick is being projected at the end of the 1st round by most and Kiper has him being selected by Pittsburgh at number 30. He’s going to be a player in the NFL and he’s definitely a Steelers kind of linebacker. It would be a great landing spot.
